St Nicholas CE Primary School Christian Values
At St Nicholas we have six core values. These core values are rooted in Christian tradition and describe what it means to be a member of St Nicholas school. They define what is important to us and characterise the distinctiveness of St Nicholas as a church school. Our values are at the heart of all we do. They underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils for life in 21st Century Britain.
These are our six core values and we expect everyone in our school community to respect and uphold these values.
Community
Respect
Hope
Forgiveness
Courage
Friendship
St Nicholas Church
We are very close to the vicar and members of the congregation at St Nicholas church. We regularly visit the church for services throughout the year and each week friends from the church perform an 'Open the Book' assembly at school for us. The pupils look forward to the Open the Book assemblies and take part enthusiastically whenever they get the chance!
Promoting Fundamental British Values
In accordance with The Department for Education we actively promote British Values in schools to ensure young people leave school prepared for life in modern Britain. Pupils are encouraged to regard people of all faiths, races and cultures with respect and tolerance and understand that while different people may hold different views about what is ‘right’ and ‘wrong’, all people living in England are subject to its law.
The British Values are:
Democracy
Rule of Law
Individual liberty
Mutual respect
Tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs
