A caring community where all pupils are valued and achieve well.

Woodlands 2019

Everyone arrived at Woodlands at 12:15 on Monday. After having Pizza for lunch we had a tour of the grounds and got to unpack our clothes and belongings.

As you can see from the photographs everyone was dressed ready for the afternoons activities.

The evening meal was fish and chips followed by a night walk.

Tuesday 26th 9:17am Great nights sleep had by all. Porridge, cereal, scrambled eggs and toast for breakfast. Room inspections done (there might be a competiton for the neatest one?). All the children are now ready for another day of exciting activities.

Tuesday 26th 17:09pm  A really successful day of mountain walking completed. Both groups climbed two mountains and enjoyed some amazing scenery. Group 4 walked so well they were back at Woodlands early and fitted in a zip wire session. Group 5 walked equally well and enjoyed a mud slide back to the minibus!

Tuesday 26th 19:00 Children took part in an orienteering activity. They finished off the evening with a diary and postcard session. All the children are having a fantastic time.

Wednesday 27th 9:51am Another good night's sleep had by all and everyone is bright-eyed and bushy tailed after a hearty brekkie including bacon rolls. The children are getting organised and ready for caving.

Wednesday 27th 16.09 On our way back after a really successful days caving. Everyone achieved all of the challenges and pushed their limits.

Thursday 28th 9.41am It's a beautiful sunny morning here in Glasbury. Preparations for our canoeing day are well underway. We all slept well and are well-fuelled by another tasty breakfast.

Friday 29th 8.43am So, our penultimate day has been another huge success. After heading out in the minibuses to two different venues, we chose our partners and began to set up the canoes. Great teamwork was displayed by both groups as they worked together to check safety equipment, set up the canoes and get them on the water. We found that working together is incredibly important if you want to travel in a straight line! After stopping for a bite of lunch, we carried on down the canal enjoying the scenery and we challenged ourselves to limbo underneath a drawbridge! As everyday this week, the children completed their chores - cleaning the minibus, putting equipment and lunch bits away, hanging their clothes in the drying room and getting themselves showered ready for dinner - however, today they were carried out with a distinct improvement in their sense of purpose and efficiency. This evening we have enjoyed sweet and sour chicken and prawn crackers followed by banoffee pie for dessert. We have completed our diaries and course evaluation forms and are settling down to a cinema night with hot chocolate and biscuits. A final day of climbing and high rope activities awaits us today before we head home.
