NEW! Weekly Book Swap at school will now be happening every Wednesday in term time from 2.30-3.30pm in the Giraffe Class garden, starting from the SECOND week of term (it is not possible to do a book swap in the first week).  Please bring your completed books to drop off and swap for new ones.  You can pick up two new reading books and also a free choice book each week.  Please observe 2m social distancing rules when on site and use the anti bac gel provided before touching the books.  Please come in through the back gate by the public car park, enter the garden through the playground and then exit through the side garden gate and back up to the back gate, to help with social distancing.

Dear Parents/Carers,

As the lockdown progresses, eases, and evolves and some children are back in class, inevitably, so is our approach to supporting you and your families with home learning.  Class Dojo pages will still be running as a platform for contact with your child(ren)’s class teachers.  For the coming term, we be broadly covering the same learning and theme in the Dolphin Class classroom, as that contained within the home learning packs, to help the class share their learning journey together. I will continue to create a weekly learning pack with all the linked resources. Our home learning support will take the following format:

Reading, Spelling, English and Topic learning:

This will be posted in the form of a weekly home learning pack folder on this page.

All classes will be following the same topic themes with learning relevant to their specific year group.  We hope this is helpful for those of you who are supporting children from more than one year group at home.

In addition, please continue to encourage your child(ren) to read and do any comprehensions included in the learning pack.

Phonics and Spelling:

Phonics and spelling learning information will be included in the learning pack sheet.

Reception and Year 1 all now have access to ‘Teach Your Monster to Read’ and we would encourage your child to recap their sounds using this. Phonics Play is still sharing the free login so you can access the full range of games on there too

Other online phonics and spelling games can also be accessed via the ICT Hub at

As a guide, Phases 2, 3 and 4 are aimed Reception, Phase 5 aimed at Year 1 and Phase 6 (also known as Support for Spelling) is aimed at Year 2, although frequent recaps of previous stages are also helpful.

Although it does cost £2.99 to download the app, if possible, I would recommend downloading the Spelling Shed app, using the QR codes I include within the Week 1 of Term 6 home learning pack, to upload our spelling lists and help the children keep up with their spellings.

Maths Learning:

Maths learning information will continue to be included in the weekly learning pack.

To maintain continuity in our maths learning we will be making use of the White Rose Maths Hub video lessons. These can be found on the White Rose Home Learning page ( as well as on the BBC Bitesize daily lessons. The lessons are identical, but the BBC provide some additional resources. We will be posting a zip-file of each week’s White Rose worksheets within the learning packs uploaded to the class page on the school website.  We will not always be following the exact White Rose order and full coverage, so do check to see what lessons and activities have been allocated for each week by looking in the relevant week’s learning folder.

White Rose provide 4 lessons a week and a challenge sheet on a Friday. The challenge sheets are not available in advance so will be added to the Maths Fun Page of the school’s website as they are released.

In addition to this, the children will be set tasks on MyMaths that link to the same theme as the White Rose lessons. We have decided to do this to allow you to choose between online and offline tasks to suit your child and family circumstances. You will have been emailed your child’s log in details for MyMaths, but please do contact us on Dojo if you cannot find them.  You can also continue to do daily practice on TTRS

Year 1 Dolphins are encouraged to use either MyMaths and or Doodle Maths to practise their maths skills, alongside Numbots, to practise their crucial number bonds.

Life Skills:

Miss Brombley has mapped out which life skills badges you could choose to work towards linked to the topic learning and these will be included in your weekly home learning pack.

All the documents for each Life Skills Badge stream are available on the website

Creative Learning:

Our fantastic team of TAs are continuing to find exciting creative learning projects for you which can be found here
